MALAYSIA’S SEDANIA INNOVATOR BERHAD LAUNCHES INNOVATIVE IOT PRODUCT IN SINGAPORE
SINGAPORE – 20 November 2019 – Sedania Innovator Berhad (“Sedania” or the “Company”) (创新有限公司; Bursa: 0178; Bloomberg: SDNA.MK), has launched today its innovative Smart Building IoT product range at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. For global data connectivity of its devices, Sedania has chosen Sigfox, a dedicated data network with coverage of over 65 countries. Sedania concurrently signed a MoU with Xperanti IoT Sdn Bhd, the exclusive Sigfox operator in Malaysia.
The ASAP (”Always Safe, Always Protected” and “smoke” when translated to Bahasa Malaysia) product range is the first Cloud-connected Smart Fire Alarm which offers a multi-level alert notification system including Whatsapp, and detailed Visitor Traffic Analytics for business owners.
“We have combined our Smart Fire Alarm with unique features specifically for residential Homes, Facility Managers of Commercial Buildings, as well as for business owners like SMEs, restaurants, retail and offices.” said Daniel Ruppert, Group CEO of Sedania Innovator Bhd.
With the ASAP product range, Sedania enters the USD 60.7 billion Global IoT Smart Building market which is projected to grow to USD 150 billion over the next 5 years, according to a report from McKinsey.
The product launch was officiated by Mr Daniel Ruppert, Group CEO of Sedania Innovator Berhad, Mr Gopi Ganesalingam, Vice President of Enterprise Development, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Sdn Bhd (MDEC), and Puan Sharimahton Mat Saleh, Deputy CEO of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
Both MDEC and MATRADE are keen to see a Malaysian tech company enter the global smart building market with unique product propositions. Sedania is part of MDEC’s Global Acceleration & Innovation Network (GAIN) programme, and also among the latest recipient of MATRADE’s Mid-Tier Companies Development Programme (MTCDP), a customised export programme for Malaysian Mid-Tier Companies (MTCs) that offers support through export consultations and expertise, followed by on the ground trade promotion activities to facilitate expansion overseas.
“MATRADE will continue to facilitate MTCs overseas through our customised export programme and we are proud that Sedania is adopting and driving the growth of the IoT sector by providing cutting edge solutions and technology, in line with the national Industry 4.0 agenda”, according to Sharimahton.
“Welcoming the launch of Sedania’s Smart Building Solution (ASAP), Gopi from MDEC said: “We welcome such innovations in key sectors as this is a powerful aspect of Malaysia’s digital nation boosting efforts and such moves will open new markets within Southeast Asia and beyond. MDEC’s Global Acceleration & Innovation Network (GAIN) programme is designed to nurture and escalate the growth of our innovative tech champions; indeed, we look forward to more exciting opportunities to collaborate and broaden the reach of our GAIN companies onto the global stage.”
Sedania has revealed its new product range for the first time at the Sigfox Connect 2019 exhibition in Singapore. The products include ASAP Home, a wireless IoT-powered smart smoke alarm for residential homes that is able to WhatsApp and call your neighbours or security control room for help. The layered alarm notification system calls the Emergency Services if the alarm remains on for 120 seconds.
ASAP Business is a smart fire alarm designed for business owners as it also provides people traffic analytics. The device is able to detect and count smart phones carried by people within the proximity of the smoke alarm. The resulting analytics show how many visitors are residing in which area of the premise at which time, how long they are staying and how often do they return – similar to website traffic analytics. For physical retail, restaurants/F&B and office owners such insights are priceless as they reveal trends early and provide a measurement tool for business optimisation.
The third product, ASAP Facility Management, is designed for enterprises and commercial buildings. The wireless smoke alarms can be centrally managed and monitored by the building managers and the included mobile app ensures any alarms can instantly be attended to.
ASAP offers WiFi and Sigfox connectivity to the cloud. Sigfox is a global wireless network specialised for battery-powered devices which send small data packets to the cloud. The French company has established global coverage of 65 countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Taiwan.
“We have chosen Sigfox as our connectivity standard due to its power efficiency, data cost and global coverage. With Sigfox as our network partner, we are able to market ASAP worldwide immediately without having to establish network connection in each country.” says Ruppert.
Sedania has signed a MoU with Xperanti, the exclusive Sigfox network operator for Malaysia, with the objective to identify use cases and commercialise solutions for the global IoT market.
“One of the most destructive properties of fire is that it spreads exponentially, which is why early detection of fire is necessary for avoiding a fire hazard” said Xperanti’s Chief Operating Officer, Vicks Kanagasingam.
“We are excited to collaborate with Sedania Technologies to offer ASAP as practical solutions to elevate fire safety. Sigfox’s IoT network enables access to valuable information that adds a new layer of proactive monitoring and preventive measures for smarter homes, buildings and businesses. Sedania is able to leverage on Sigfox’s global ecosystem to bring ASAP to over 65 countries” he added.
ASAP is available for sales online via www.asap.asia and through appointed distributors.
